O.Docent began as part of Ella Yoo Jewelry, where art, form, and jewelry came together through a series of fine jewelry collections.
As Ella Yoo Jewelry became increasingly focused on bridal jewelry, its fine jewelry line evolved into an independent brand in 2026, marking the beginning of O.Docent.
The collections and ideas first developed under Ella Yoo Jewelry now continue through O.Docent, carrying forward the same artistic vision while evolving into a new chapter.
This archive looks back at that journey—tracing the collections, studies, and creative explorations that have shaped the design language of O.Docent today.
AUGUST 2026 - O.DOCENT BEGINS
INNER FORM — O.DOCENT × SUYU CHEN
Following its launch in August 2026, O.Docent will unveil its first contemporary jewelry collaboration with artist SUYU Chen in September.
SUYU Chen explores Honest Reflection, while Ella Yoo examines human nature through themes such as conscience. Bringing their closely connected artistic practices together, the two artists present a collaborative contemporary jewelry collection.

Inspired by the soft, weightless presence of Cloud Dancer, the Airy Collection explores a feeling of lightness—as if air could pass freely through form.
Cloudlike, quiet, and gently in motion, each piece captures a sense of openness and movement, like a fleeting dance in the air.

2025 -ATELIER COLLECTION
From the Artist’s Hand
Atelier began with an ordinary moment in the studio.As both a painter and jewelry designer, Ella spends much of her time with a brush in hand. One day while painting, she paused and looked at the brush she was holding—not simply as a tool, but as a form. It's elongated handle and delicate bristles gradually evolved into jewelry, first taking shape as bracelets and earrings, and later as brooches. Originally developed as part of the Abstract Collection, these pieces eventually formed a collection of their own: Atelier—a reflection of the place where painting and jewelry naturally meet.
2025- Soulgaze. Abstract Collection
From Abstract Form to Jewelry
Soulgaze translates the visual language of Ella’s abstract painting into jewelry.
Organic forms drawn from the painting are reinterpreted around the center stone, allowing open space, flowing contours, and metal to become part of the composition.
Rather than reproducing the painting literally, the ring carries its abstract form into a three-dimensional, wearable object.

2024 - Still Ribbon. Mind Collection
Giving Form to Feeling
Still Ribbon explores the idea of giving form to emotions that cannot be seen.
Inspired by the childlike innocence and sincerity that remain within us even as we grow older, the collection translates these quiet emotions into lines, repetition, space, and stones.
Each composition gives shape to a different emotional presence—something intangible, made visible through form.
Some feelings simply remain.
2023 - DIVIDED FIELD. Abstract Collection
Painting → Color / Field → Jewelry
Divided Field grew from a visual language that has long appeared throughout Ella's abstract's paintings. Across her work, surfaces are often divided into contrasting fields of color, creating balance through separation and contrast. This recurring painterly language was later translated into jewelry, where color and material divide a single continuous form.

From Painting to Object to Jewelry
From Abstract Painting to Fine Jewelry
During her studies, Ella explored how the forms of her abstract paintings could be reinterpreted as objects and jewelry through techniques such as powder coating and painting directly on metal.
This fine jewelry line continues that process, translating the forms, textures, and gestures of her paintings into precious metals, diamonds, and enamel.
2017 - 2021 ASYMMETRICAL LINES
Line drawing + asymmetrical composition
Developed from early line studies, Asymmetrical Lines explores how drawn gestures can become wearable form. Rather than centering every element, lines gather and move along one side of the stone—creating balance through irregularity, movement, and negative space.
2014–2015 — FROM CANVAS TO JEWELRY
Early Experiments
Before learning the mechanics of jewelry making, Ella began with a simple question: Could the language of a canvas become something wearable?
While preparing her art school portfolio, she explored this idea through video and material experiments, transforming paint—the material of painting itself—into wearable forms such as necklaces. Created before her formal jewelry training, these early works introduced an idea that would continue throughout her practice: translating one artistic language into another.
What began as a simple experiment would later become one of the foundations of O.Docent.'
2013 — THE BEGINNING
From Words to Images
As Ella Yoo graduation project in Creative Writing in South Korea , Ella presented a critical study titled Seeing Van Gogh Through Poetry, Seeing Van Gogh Through Painting, exploring the creative dialogue between literature and painting.
This early exploration of how one artistic language can be translated into another became a starting point for a practice that would later move from words to painting, objects, and jewelry.
